David Beckham to Rejoin L.A. Galaxy?

David Beckham will rejoin the Los Angeles Galaxy next month after AC Milan declined to make a higher bid before a deadline passed for reaching an agreement to acquire the English midfielder.

Beckham, 33, told the Galaxy he wanted to stay with the Italian club, whose initial offer was rejected by the Major League Soccer team. MLS Commissioner Don Garber set yesterday’s deadline to complete a potential transfer.

“We did not receive an acceptable offer,” Galaxy Coach Bruce Arena said in a statement late yesterday. “As a result, David remains an LA Galaxy player and we look forward to having him back with the club starting March 9.” The MLS season starts 13 days later.

89 Minutes for David Beckham In His Debut in Serie A

David Beckham made a start in his AC Milan debut on Sunday (11th Jan, 2009), playing 89 minutes in a 2-2 draw against AS Roma.

The English midfielder was replaced by Mathieu Flamini in the 89th minute. He exited mostly to boos from the Roma crowd.

"I felt good in the game, very strong and I enjoyed it," Beckham said. "I enjoyed playing with these players and in this city."

Beckham joined Milan on a two-month loan from the Los Angeles Galaxy of Major League Soccer, hoping to stay sharp so he can earn a spot on the English national team.

"I don't want to have regrets in my career," Beckham said. "I am very lucky to have this chance with this great club and I want to enjoy it."

Barcelona Prepares To Sign Italy's Pirlo

SKY Italia reported that Barcelona are preparing to take AC Milan's Pirlo for a massive transfer bid. Barcelona are taking the advantage of Pirlo's unsettled San Siro future.

Pirlo had a poor domestic season last year and is also unhappy with the lucrative contract that Mathieu Flamini received. Barcelona boss Josep Guardiola is a huge admirer of Pirlo and hopes that Pirlo will surely play for Barcelona for the coming season.

Pirlo is now with the Euro 2008 Italian squad.

Sau Paulo's Hernanes Replaces Kaka In Brazil Squad

Sau Paulo midfielder Hernanes will replace AC Milan's Kaka for Brazil's upcoming fixtures. Kaka is currently recovering from a surgery, which he had undergone on his left knee last month. Brazil's team doctor Jose Luiz Runco reported.

Hernanes has impressed coach Dunga after he returned to Sau Paulo from Santo Andre. The 23 year old midfielder is thrilled to be part of Brazil's national team.


Hernanes will join the squad in Boston ahead of Brazil's friendly against Venezuela at the Foxborough Staduim on Friday.
