Jamaica's Usain Bolt beat his fellow countryman Asafa Powell by 0.02 second to set a new world record of 9.72 seconds at 100 meters at the Reebok Grand Prix meet on Randalls Island.
The 21 year old Bolt ran with a tailwind 1.7 meters per second (2 meters per second speed allowed for a recod to stand).
Tyson Gay was second with 9.85 seonds.
